Lotus Carlton is nations favourite Vauxhall
02 December 2008
Vauxhall owners have voted the Lotus Carlton as their most favourite vehicle from the company.
The Lotus Carlton has beaten off the challenge of both the Vauxhall Calibra and Cavalier to finish top of a poll. Some 630 Vauxhall owners took part in the survey run by the website vauxhalldriverscentre.co.uk, which voted the Lotus Carlton as the nation's favourite Vauxhall.
The 176 miles per hour super-saloon was launched in 1989 and is officially the fastest four-door production car in the world.
It only takes 5.4 seconds to accelerate to 62 miles per hour from standstill in the vehicle, thanks to a 377bhp engine.
Meanwhile, in a separate survey looking at motorists' favourite model from the last five years, used car drivers voted the Monaro as top dog, which has been available since 2004.
Among the benefits of the Monaro was the inclusion of a 5.7-litre V8 engine, which helped it to finish ahead of the VXR8 and the Astra Sports Hatch in this poll.
The Lotus Carlton was an upgrade on the Vauxhall Carlton, with some of the minor changes being the fitting of a rear spoiler and wider wheel arches.
