Car buffs around the globe have been given a motoring gift from British manufacturer Lotus Cars, who have recently released a face-lifted variant of the mid-engine roadster Lotus Elise. Yet it seems that Dutch aficionados will get to taste the special edition Elise SC first as the model is scheduled to hit the Netherlands sooner than the rest.
The special edition Elise SC is clad in a matte white paint with its details highlighted in black. Lotus Cars has mounted a new exhaust tip at the car’s rear that uses a spoiler and an oval design (in lieu of the standard dual round design) that conforms to the line of the car’s body.
It employs the 1.6-litre standard engine that uses the Dual and Valvematic VVT-I system to produce 136hp and emit CO2 of 155 grams per kilometre. This emissions figure is 13% less compared to the number emitted by the outgoing engine. The car’s power plant can accelerate past 62mph in just 6.5 seconds.
The car also uses the design language first adopted by the Lotus Evora, featuring an innovative front bumper which can incorporate bigger air intakes. It also features a new rear bumper, engine cover, rear diffuser and redesigned headlights with LED daytime running lights. The face-lifted Elise SC has a 4% lower drag coefficient.
On top of that, it gets a brand new group of 12-spoke black alloy rims and includes ‘SC’ logos located on the rear seats and fascia.
