The iconic Mazda MX-5 has been named as the 'Best Sports car' in the 2010 JD Power vehicle satisfaction survey in the UK, clinching a satisfaction score of 82.3 percent.
Over 17,000 British car owners joined the annual survey, and MX-5 drivers gave the two-seater sports car top scores for interior and exterior quality, appearance, running costs, performance, mechanical reliability and dealer service.
After the votes were counted in, the MX-5 earned 82.3 percent satisfaction rating, beating luxury sports cars such as the Audi TT, the Volkswagen Eos and the Mercedes-Benz SLK, to claim the 'Best-in-Class' honours.
It is not the first time the MX-5 finished at the top of the JD Power survey, and has been often nominated in the sports car category in many countries around the world. For the past twenty years, owners have praised the car for being a durable, affordable and fun-to-drive sports car. It has won more than 160 awards and has sold 870,000 units worldwide.
"The JD Power survey results in the UK are important because Brits are really passionate about sports cars in general", said Jeff Guyton, CEO and President of Mazda Motor Europe.
"But these results reflect more than just how much they love to drive their MX-5. They also show how practical and easy to live with our roadster is on a daily basis. It combines low running costs, legendary reliability and good service with thrilling, open-top sports car fun. No wonder it continues to be so popular", Guyton added.
Mazda MX-5 is priced from £17,245 to £22,730 OTR in the UK
