After a decade of silence, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class is gearing up to roar once again into British roads this autumn. This iconic model celebrated its 30th birthday in 2009 and still preserves its full-bodied classic design mated with superior off-road features and top-notch Mercedes-Benz technology.
Distinctive design and distinctive timeless look put the G-Class above the crowd, and it has built a strong motorist following among those looking for a very exclusive and luxury SUV. Its virtually limitless off-road capabilities and practicality as an everyday car have made it a hit in the market, selling more than 200,000 units around the world since 1979.
"Despite G-Class being the longest-serving passenger car series in the history of Mercedes-Benz, we are delighted to welcome it as a 'new model' in right hand drive for UK customers. The long wheelbase version in particular blends style, technology, practicality, impeccable build quality and unbeatable off-road credentials in a shape that is as seductive today as it was when originally launched", said Mercedes-Benz Cars Managing Director Dermot Kelly.
Customers can choose between the class-winning G 55 AMG KOMPRESSOR which delivers 500hp and accelerates from 0-62mph in just 5.5 seconds, and the G 350 CDI which pitches 221hp and returns 25.7mpg. Both models feature high-class standard equipment such as automatic transmission featuring high and low gear ratios, automatic climate control, Bi-Xenon headlamps, heated seats with memory, a Harman Kardon Logic 7 Sound system, and a reverse parking aid.
The car also boasts 4ETS and ESP(r) to guarantee maximum traction, stability and handling on whatever terrain. The 100 percent locking differentials, off-road ratios and permanent all-wheel drive also prove their merit off road, making the car superb in all off-road conditions.
