Mitsubishi Motors UK has announced pricing and specification details for its brand-new urban crossover - the ASX. The car is due to hit UK showrooms starting July 1st at highly competitive prices from £14,999 to £22,049.
"This is the right car, at the right time, at the right price and specification. The CO2 reducing technologies will appeal to fleets, user-choosers and retail customers alike - indeed, early customer reaction has been very positive with advance orders already taken", said Lance Bradley, managing director of Mitsubishi.
The ASX is available in a choice of two engines - a 1.8-litre DiD turbodiesel engine delivering 147hp and 221Nm of torque, which is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, and a 1.6-litre petrol engine offering 115hp and 114Nm of torque, using a five-speed manual gearbox. The turbodiesel engine comes with an AWC electronically controlled 4x4 systems.
In line with Mitsubishi Motors' aim to lessen CO2 emissions on its fleet while offering great fuel economy and performance, the Mitsubishi ASX is equipped with environment-friendly specifications including Automatic Stop & Go, low rolling resistance tyres, electric power steering, low viscosity oil, weight reduction measures, LED lighting, and regenerative brakes (Generation Control System).
Safety-wise, the car has been awarded by the Euro NCAP with a 5-star rating. There is no doubt as to the reason, as the ASX boasts a comprehensive list of safety features such as the Mitsubishi's RISE safety structure, whiplash reducing seats, seven airbags, Active Stability Control, Emergency Stop signal System, Hill Start Assist, Traction Control, and ABS with Brake Assist and EBD. For pedestrian protection, it has plastic front wings, energy-absorbing front bumper and a double bulge bonnet.
