Mitsubishi introduces new speedy electric car
29 December 2008
Car manufacturer Mitsubishi is set to unveil a new green car which could signify a new dawn in electric vehicles.
The latest offering from Mitsubishi hails a new era in green motoring, according to one newspaper.A report in the Independent states that the car, which is soon to be released in the UK, can reach speeds of 87mph.
Seating four-adults, the i-MiEV saloon car only needs to be charged every 100 miles with the paper describing it as a "dramatic leap forward in quality from the vehicles which have so far dominated the electric car market in the UK".
Set to hit the showrooms in mid-2009, it boasts zero emissions and is the first crash-tested four-seat electric car from a mainstream manufacturer available in the UK.
Its green credentials will exempt the vehicle from road tax, with the manufacturer claiming driving 100 miles will cost just 45p of electricity.
According to the Independent, the car maker intends to lease all 200 cars released in the UK next year for around £750 per month.
