Officially launched earlier this month, the all-new BMW Z4 GT3 easily gained immediate popularity among BMW Motorsport clients. The first models have been distributed to private BMW teams, who will be using them in a variety of international and national competitions.
The feedback on the BMW Z4 GT3 is extremely positive, said Mario Theissen, director of BMW Motorsport. This sports car rounds off our product range, and offers drivers and teams the opportunity to compete in championships in accordance with the GT3 regulations - such as the FIA GT3 European Championship, the International GT Open or the ADAC GT Masters - as well as at 24-hour endurance races.
Additionally, the S2000 regulations-compliant BMW 320si WTCC, the M3 GT2, as well as the close-to-production M3 GT4 are now also available to client teams all around the globe at BMW Motorsport Distribution.
The Z4 GT3 boasts a very unique appearance with an elongated bonnet, narrow projections, long wheel base, and flared wheel arches. It is powered by a 4.0-L eight-cylinder engine, which produces more than 480 bhp. Its superior torque curve and outstanding performance characteristics make the engine based on the BMW M3 production version bound for motorsport use.
In the electronics department, customers can expect ground-breaking BMW solutions which are already being used on the M3 GT2. It also provides driver assistance systems like traction control and racing ABS.
Meanwhile, the front axle features a wholly new design, while the rear axles design serves as a longitudinal link axle. In addition, the roof, rear and front wings, fender, bonnet and other parts are made of carbon fibre reinforced plastics, which significantly contribute to scaling down the weight of the car to 1,200 kilograms.
Similar to all BMW customer racing cars, the issue of cost-efficiency was also made a main consideration in developing the Z4 GT3. As such, it offers an excellent cost/performance ratio and provides private BMW teams the chance to take part in high-level motorsport at affordable costs.
