New and used Subarus some of the safest on the roads
23 November 2009
Subarus have been highlighted as some of the safest cars on the road.
Fans of new and used Subarus may be pleased to hear that the manufacturer recently performed well in a major crash test programme.According to a new study from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the US, the motors are some of the most secure on the roads.
Tests - including assessments of frontal, rear and rollover crashes -on a range of cars revealed that Subaru was the only carmaker to receive the Top Safety Pick Award for each vehicle it entered.
Institute president Adrian Lund said the examinations cover the four most common types of crash.
He said: "Consumers can use this list to zero-in on the vehicles that are on the top rung for safety.
"Cars and SUVs that win Top Safety Pick are designs that go far beyond minimum federal safety standards."
Meanwhile, drivers of new and used Fords were recently given road safety advice.
Customer services director Andy Barratt said people should care for their cars as if they were brand-new and not skip on essential maintenance.
