Since it was launched in Europe in the autumn of 2008, the second-generation Nissan Murano has held a unique spot in the premium Crossover market, as it combines a premium on-board atmosphere, cutting-edge design and easy, satisfying performance.
This September the appeal the Nissan Murano has on customers will be significantly improved by the introduction of a diesel engine to the range, which will further strengthen the lead held by Nissan in the Crossover category. The new diesel engine version will be launched together with the introduction of the new Nissan Juke, the fourth member of the companys Crossover line-up. Shortly after, the company will also launch the revised Nissan Qashqai.
The Nissan Murano features an improved version of Nissans 2.5 dCi four cylinder engine, which offers a combination of refinement, effortless torque, and reduced emissions and fuel consumption, in keeping with the European market trend. The YD25 engine from the Nissan range has undergone comprehensive upgrades ahead of its fitment to the car. When installed in the new Nissan Murano, the engine generates 190PS and 450Nm of torque.
Modifications in the engine consist of a new direct injection system that runs at 2000 bar, up from 1800 bar. This rise in pressure denotes that the fuel spray is atomised to a much finer degree leading to more complete combustion. The engines new cylinder head with parallel ports amplifies the swirl efficiency of the combustion cycle, making the exhaust and intake flow smoother. Instead of the previously used hydraulic system, it has adopted a variable nozzle turbo (VNT) with electric control for faster responses.
