Volkswagen champions new seven-speed gearbox in Passat CC
Volkswagen has announced that its Passat CC can now be ordered with a seven-speed DSG gearbox which offers a number of advantages over its traditional manual counterparts. The German automaker has revealed that the new system fitted to the four-door, four-seat coupe has a lower first-gear ratio which improves its zero to 60 mph time by 0.1 seconds to 8.5 seconds.
Furthermore, the seventh gear is set up to act as an overdrive function, improving fuel consumption on the combined cycle to 38.7 mpg, in comparison to 37.2 mpg for the manual version.
All Passat models containing the DSG transmission - namely those in the standard CC trim - will see CO2 emissions down from 178 g/km to 172 g/km and will also feature an impressive array of equipment fitted as standard.
This includes 17-inch Phoenix alloy wheels, 2Zone Climatronic air conditioning, a touch-screen stereo system with six-disc CD changer, a six-setting adjustable driver's seat and the Electronic Stabilisation Programme.
The 1.8-litre TSI Passat retails for £20,622, a figure which rises by £1,243 for the privilege of having the DSG gearbox, while the GT 3.6-litre V6 version commands a price of £30,492.
Volkswagen was founded in 1938 by Ferdinand Porsche and Robert Ley.
