New Lexus uses fighter jet technology
06 May 2009
The new Lexus consists of the same technology as that used in fighter jets for its new Hud system, the manufacturer has claimed.
Drivers who always wanted to try their hand at operating a fighter jet could come close with the new Lexus RX 450h full hybrid luxury SUV.The manufacturer has claimed that its new Head-Up Display (Hud), which projects navigation information onto the base of the windscreen, is derived from the same technology used in military fighter jets.
Hud, which comprises high-intensity LEDs for clear display readouts, provides drivers with data related to the vehicle's speed, warnings from the Adaptive Cruise Control and Pre-Crash Safety systems.
A spokesperson at Lexus confirmed the technology's performance ability, saying: "To ensure a high level of performance, the system was tested ahead of production on the snow-covered roads of Hokkaido in Japan."
Motorists looking to buy a car with less technologically advanced specifications may wish to consider purchasing a second-hand model.
However, if the latest HPI Used Car Valuations Index is anything to go by, they may have to get a move on considering both demand and prices are set to rise.
