New Saab 9-3 viable alternative in class
08 December 2008
The new Saab 9-3 competes well with other vehicles in its category.
Used car drivers looking for an alternative to a BMW or a Volvo S60 could find the new Saab 9-3 to be a potential candidate, according to the Perthshire Advertiser. As well as being in a cheaper car insurance bracket than other vehicles in its class, including contemporary vehicles from BMW and Audi, the vehicle loses nothing on the road.
The newspaper claims that the new Saab holds the road excellently with fluid handling, while also having no problem coping with local trips or those over a far longer distance.
For the speed merchants, the vehicle is capable of a maximum speed of 140mph and reaches 62 mph from standstill in a respectable eight seconds.
In terms of engines, potential buyers have the choice between a 2.8-litre V6 or a 2-0 litre petrol, while two 1.9-litre diesels are available, either with 120 or 150bhp.
On a slightly negative note, the newspaper states that the vehicle is not as comfortable as others in its class and becomes less snug based around the power chosen.
The new Saab is part of the third generation of the 9-3.
