New Seat championed 'most sustainable car in segment'
06 May 2009
Eco-driving champion Gerhard Plattner has named the new Seat the most sustainable car in its segment.
The new Seat Ibiza Ecomotive has been hailed the leading car in its segment when it comes to sustainability and fuel consumption.Anyone in the market to buy a vehicle that lists high in the eco-friendly ranks has therefore been advised to look no further.
This comes after internationally-renowned economy-driving champion Gerhard Plattner drove across Spain and France to Germany on a single tank of fuel.
The Austrian managed to cover 970 miles on the one tank, which resulted in an average fuel consumption level of 97.4 mpg.
"It has been the most spectacular fuel-saving challenge this year," he commented.
"The pouring rain practically all through the night made driving very difficult, but the Ibiza Ecomotive performed to perfection."
This comes after the Institute of Advanced Motorists recently claimed that driving more efficiently could help motorists save a significant amount of money on fuel - on any car.
For example, it advised that slowing a vehicle down in advance rather than breaking to reduce speed is a good way to cut fuel consumption.
