Nissan has announced that its range of crossover vehicles will be completed with the introduction of the funky-looking Juke in September.
After the debut of the Murano in 2005 and the Qashqai in 2007, crossovers accounted for 50 percent of Nissans sales.
The trust in crossovers is expected to increase after the arrival the Juke.
Paul Wilcox, Nissans UK chief, stated: 80% of Qashqai customers were new to the brand and we expect Juke to deliver the same. Crossovers have become the face of Nissan.
The company will launch the new Micra almost at the same time as the introduction of the Juke. Unveiled at the recent Geneva motor show, the new Micra appears to be quite plain when placed beside the radical Juke. But the company believes that there is no problem in offering two radically different cars simultaneously.
The new Micra is more conservative, said Wilcox, but, unlike the Qashqai and Juke, it will appeal to existing customers from the current Micra and the Note market, who will be drawn to its strong value and low CO2 emissions - especially the 95g/km version that will come five to six months after the launch.
Nissan Design Europes project leader, Matt Weaver, stated that gender is also one of the significant differentiators between the two models.
He said that the Juke is more male-orientated, with its design components taken from diving gears and motorbikes, while the new Micra will attract both men and women.
With the Juke we really pushed the envelope, said Weaver. Its funky and very provocative. The Micra is conservative, but it will appeal to both genders in an honest way.
