No need for power steering in Lotus Europa
14 January 2009
The light weight of the Lotus Europa means there is no need for power steering, according to a review of the vehicle.
A review of the Lotus Europa has concluded that "every road becomes a sensory revelation" for a motorist driving the vehicle.Writing for the Independent, John Simister states that because the vehicle is so light, motorists can "feel every camber change" on a road.
The vehicle also fails to come equipped with power steering, but Mr Simister states that this is fine because there is no need for it.
With most of the Europa's siblings powered by Toyota engines, the Lotus goes against the norm thanks to the inclusion of a turbocharged Vauxhall engine, which was previously used in the faster version of the Vauxhall VX220.
Also, drivers of the vehicle will benefit from an "airy" cockpit, which is a development from older models.
Drivers sit low in the vehicle but can still witness the joys of the outside world through a window, which, from the outside, allows people to look in and see the vehicle's engine.
According to Lotus Europa, there is enough space in the boot of the vehicle for a "toothbrush and a clean pair of knickers".
