An all-new generation of Porsche Cayenne Sports Utility Vehicle is set to make its world debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show next month.
Compared to its former model, this vehicle reduces fuel consumption by 23%, thanks to a revamped transmission system that uses a new Tiptronic S eight-speed automatic gearbox with a wider range of gear ratios.
The hybrid Cayennes other features include an engine stop-start, variable engine cut-off, transmission cooling circuit, thermal management on the engine, and on-board network recuperation. Its average fuel consumption is an impressive 28.75mpg, while its CO2 emissions have been reduced to 193g/km.
The new hybrid Cayenne Ss 333hp 3.0litre supercharged V6 engine is combined with a 34kW electric motor, delivering a maximum output of 380hp and a peak torque of 580Nm. For faster acceleration, additional thrust is provided by the electric motors boosting effect. With the sailing-mode feature, the car can travel at speeds of 97mph with the combustion engine switched off and disconnected from the transmission.
Together with the Cayenne S Hybrid, three of the five new models have fuel consumption of less than 10 litres per 100km, while two models have less than 200g/km CO2 emission.
Other models in the Cayenne range include an entry-level 3.6litre V6; a Cayenne Turbo that uses 4.8-litre engine and V8 bi-turbo that consumes 20.5mpg; a Cayenne Diesel that can achieve 31.8mpg; and a Cayenne S, also with a 4.8-litre engine with V8 power unit.
