After first storming the UK roads two years ago, the Volkswagen Passat CC, which blends refinement and practicality with elegant coupe styling, has been given a makeover to help it stand out from the crowd.

The Passat CC was designed to fill Volkswagens B-segment niche, and the latest version is now on sale.

Buoyed by the positive reception to its smaller models like the Golf and Polo, the German automaker has modified the four-door car to accommodate five adults by providing extra space between the rear seats.

Additional equipment has also been installed on both the GT and standard Passat CC models, though the 3.6 V6, 2.0 TSI and 1.8 TSI petrol engines have been preserved together with either a DSG or six-speed manual gearbox.

The new Passat CC is now priced 515 pounds higher compared to the outgoing model, however Volkswagen claims that this is compensated by the 1,000 pounds worth of additional equipment in entry-level models.

The extra equipment includes a leather steering wheel, handbrake and gear knob, electronic climate control, six airbags and 17-inch alloy wheels. The major newest addition is satellite navigation along with a touch-screen Bluetooth device.

The GT model also benefits from several revisions. It gains cruise control, rear and front parking sensors and leather interior, while retaining the already comprehensive menu of standard equipment from its predecessors such as Adaptive Chassis Control (ACC), heat insulating tinted glass, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Passat CCs GT version is also costs 1,000 pounds higher, but the German carmaker once again promises that the extra equipment costs at around 3,000 pounds.

An entry-level 1.8-litre engine Passat CC starts at 22,520 pounds, while GT models costs from 25,160 pounds to 26,800 pounds.
