Volkswagen UK has announced pricing and specification details for the new Touran compact MPV, which can now be ordered across dealerships. Priced from £17,585 RRP on-the-road, the new Touran is complete with a comprehensive range of frugal new engine and fresh styling both inside and out, with first deliveries scheduled on 22 September.
The new Touran made its first public appearance at the recently held Leipzig Motor Show, boasting the design lines seen on the new Sharan and the Polo with a combination of clean lines and a lower, spacious appearance compared to the model it replaces. Exterior changes include revised bonnet, front bumper and front wings, as well as new rear lights, wing mirrors and a restyled bumper and tailgate.
Inside, the car comes with revised climate and entertainment functions, restyled dials, a new three-spoke steering wheel and fresh trim finishes. In addition, ESP, ABS, six airbags, a CD stereo system, alloy wheels, air conditioning and roof rails are all installed as standard. Customers can also choose between seven and five seat configurations.
The car is also equipped with the second generation of Park Assist, an innovative system that requires only less space to make parallel parking manoeuvres, allowing the car to be parked in small spaces at 90 degrees to the kerb.
For the first time, the new Touran is fitted with an advanced new 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine, generating 105PS and 175Nm of torque. This engine returns 44.1mpg on the combined cycle and emits 149g/km of CO2. A further petrol unit and four diesel engines will also be available, with power ranging from 90PS to 170PS. The car will be available in three trim levels - Sport, SE and S - with BlueMotion Technology versions being offered with each.
