Saab to become Apple of the car brands
03 February 2009
Saab is looking to mimic Apple without becoming the next Audi.
Saab is to turn over a new leaf in its bid to become the "Apple of the car brands", it was recently stated.Knut Simonsson, director of global brand and sales at Saab, believes that his company could mimic Apple in terms of having a small market share but appearing to be a lot bigger.
Saab is to soon get its independence from General Motors and according to Simonsson could change its focus towards being a "special brand for entrepreneurs, dentists, doctors and agency people".
He made the comments in a Dutch auto magazine, where he added: "We don't want to be another Audi."
After being unveiled at the Frankfurt show in September, the all-new 9-5 saloon could well hit the market at some point this year.
The vehicle is currently undergoing winter testing, with Simonsson adding that it is "99 per cent finished".
A summary of the Saab 9-5 saloon by What? Car stated the vehicle has a "comfortable ride, decent refinement, a spacious cabin and logical dash layout".
