Scirocco heading to UK for 2010

After wowing audiences at the Bologna Motor Show, it has been revealed that UK audiences will be able to get their hands on the new Volkswagen Scirocco in 2010.

Auto Express has stated that the vehicle is set to be badged as the R20T and will rival the Ford Focus RS.

The vehicle will come equipped with a 2.0-litre TFSI turbo-charged petrol engine, which will allow it to accelerate from 0-62mph in around six seconds.

Among the other attributes of the vehicle, which may appeal to used car drivers, is a sports suspension, while Volkswagen declare that the exhaust system is 'sound-optimised'.

Continuing with the sporty and racing theme, the vehicle is fitted with a sports bodykit, a large integrated rear wing and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Upholstered racing seats are also present, finished off with a white leather piping, while a special set of aluminium pedals feature.

Journalists and the road test team from Top Gear Magazine recently crowned the Volkswagen Scirocco as the Car of the Year for 2008.
