Seat to unveil third distinct Ibiza

The Seat Ibiza ST is to become available in UK showrooms next year for used car fans.

Seat seems set to launch an assault on the supermini market with a new addition to the Ibiza line-up next year.

The Ibiza ST is set to hit UK showrooms in 2010 and will become the third distinct body style in the range, following the Ibiza SC and the Ibiza five-door.

According to Seat UK head Peter Wyhinny, "the addition of a great-looking, sporty and practical Ibiza ST to our fast-growing range is a very exciting development".

The Ibiza ST will not be Seat's first forage into the supermini market, after the unveiling of the Cordoba Vario in 1998.

However, the new compact estate has benefitted from the creative efforts of design chief Luc Donckerwolke, promising more style, comfort and practicality.

Seat S.A. president Erich Schmitt added: "Customers want attractive, top quality vehicles regardless of whether times are good or bad.

"That is why we are launching ten new models that suit customers' tastes this year, thereby positioning ourselves for better times."

Top Gear compared the Seat Ibiza to actress Penelope Cruz in its review of the Ibiza, as the vehicle is "small, Spanish and attractive".
