Skoda Auto has officially announced that the striking new Fabia vRS will be launched in the UK market on 29 July 2010, with details on specification and prices having been confirmed.
Dubbed as the fastest production Fabia model ever built, the car was based on its forerunner's reputation for outstanding value for money, minimal running costs and high performance
Available in estate and hatchback versions, the new vRS is powered by a muscular 1.4 TSI gasoline engine generating 180hp. It is mated to a seven-speed DSG gearbox as standard. In addition to that, the new vRS also features standard systems such as Hill Hold Control (HHC) ESP, and Electronic Differential System (XDS), which increases cornering grip. The car can sprint from 0-62mph in just 7.3 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 139mph and 140mph for hatch and estate, respectively.
Both versions produce carbon dioxide emissions of 148g/km, with a combined fuel economy of 45.6 mpg.
The new vRS boasts modish 17-inch 'Gigaro' alloy wheels, LED daylight running lights and a vRS body kit to produce a sportier look. As an option, buyers can choose black or white roof with a selection of body colours like the new Rallye Green.
The car's cabin is fitted with figure-hugging sports seats, Multi-Device Interface (MDI) for use with audio players such as iPods and MP3 players, and a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with paddles for changing gear and radio controls.
Overall, the new vRS offers great value for money as compared to other competitors. The price starts from £15,700 for the hatchback and £16,495 for the estate.
