Skoda Auto is due to reveal the newly refurbished Roomster and Fabia during the Geneva Motorshow this year, giving the cars newly designed bodywork as well as advanced engines.
The redesign emphasises the width of the cars, giving them a completely restyled and improved appearance to give them a greater presence on the road. The improvements are most obvious with the redesigned 3D-shaped headlamps and radiator grille, which are made wider to emphasise the more intense horizontal line on the cars.
Additionally, the Roomster, Fabia Estate, and Fabia have received further enhancements including state-of-the-art engines. The cars makeovers were centred on new engine development followed by the complete redesign of the front of the car.
Skoda will provide two diesel units and four petrol engines in the UK which possess power ranging from 70bhp to 105bhp in the Roomster, and 60bhp to 105bhp in the Fabia. The engines meet the EU5 standard as well as provide low levels of CO2 emission and fuel consumption.
Aside from improving fuel efficiency, the Skodas development is also aimed at improving performance. The 1.2 TSI 105bhp petrol engine combined with the double clutch seven-speed DSG transmission offers power plus an impressive fuel consumption of 53.3 miles per gallon.
The diesel units are paired with Common Rail injection, which builds pressure of up to 1,600 bar. Fast-responding piezoelectric injectors are also fitted. The piezoelectric injectors performs up to five injections in a single beat, which results in a more refined engine.
