Following the successful launch of the facelifted Roomster and Fabia, Skoda Auto has unravelled the curtain off the first of its second-generation eco-friendly GreenLine models - the Roomster GreenLine II and Fabia Estate GreenLine II.

The new Roomster and Fabia models have been upgraded and mated with innovative technology designed with an aim to slash CO2 emission and fuel consumption levels. The cars' most vital innovations include the new 1.2 TDI CR DPF/75bhp DPF engine with Common Rail, gear recommendation, energy recuperation and start-stop technology.

Among the notable technological changes in GreenLine's second-generation version is the new 1.2 TDI CR DPF/55 kW three-cylinder supercharged powerplant with fuel consumption of only 67.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 109g/km for the Roomster GreenLine II, and 83.1mpg and 89g/km for the Fabia Estate GreenLine II.

Aside from lower CO2 emissions, other levels of contaminant have also been lessened. The new powerplant meets the five-star emission standard of the EU and the gear ratios of the model's five-speed transmission are the same as those of the ordinary Roomster and Fabia models. As such, the GreenLine II models offer the same receptiveness but with lower fuel consumption.

The major benefits of the start-stop technology stand out during busy city traffic as it makes it possible to save up to 7.7mpg in city traffic and 4.2mpg (combined). Meanwhile, the energy recuperation system makes the operation of the car as environmentally-friendly as possible. It helps to reduce the CO2 emissions by 2 to 4 g/km.

Other technologies introduced by Skoda Auto on the Greenline II units to enhance economy include gear recommendation system, a lowered and aerodynamically-covered chassis along with low rolling resistance tyres.
