Smart UK has launched a striking special edition fortwo model that "genuinely sounds as good as it looks".
Dubbed as smart fortwo ICE edition, the car is available in deep black with tridion safety cell finished in black carbon fibre and takes car entertainment to a higher dimension with the latest navigation and Pioneer audio technology.
The company collaborated with Pioneer to ensure that the hi-tech AVIC-F920BT Navgate kit, which comprises active subwoofer and a two-way speaker system, could be custom-fitted to the soundproofed spaces occupied by the audio equipment.
There is also a user-friendly touch-screen for easy scrolling of music collection, and drivers can select tracks according to their journey or mood via the innovative MusicSphere technology of Pioneer. Categorised by rhythm, vocal, pitch and tempo, up to 40 different playlists can be created from an iTunes library that can be accessed via an interactive 3D sphere interface.
Apart from its hands-free Bluetooth capability, the Navgate unit of the ICE edition issues pre-warnings about accidents and traffic jams, as well as highlights over six million specific point locations in 44 countries, like petrol stations or cash machines. Drivers can also use the ECO Graph package to evaluate their driving performance by displaying the car's fuel usage and its CO2 emissions.
Inside, the ICE edition comes with leather optic upper dashboard, black leather heated seats, three-spoke leather sports steering wheel featuring steering wheel gear shift, a lockable glove compartment, rev counter, air conditioning and electric windows and dashboard-mounted clock.
Last but not the least, its outstanding black exterior look is complemented by 15" BRABUS Monoblock VII alloy wheels and rounded off by a panoramic roof.
According to smart, only 200 fortwo ICE edition models will be made available to UK customers. There will be 60 micro hybrid drive diesel versions priced from £11,245 OTR and 140 petrols priced from £10,495 OTR.
