Sport Tourer version of Insignia on the way

With the Vauxhall Insignia already proving popular among motorists, a new Sport Tourer model is to be added to the range in April.

The Insignia has already been declared the 2009 European Car of the Year and within is first month of availably in the UK over 15,000 orders were taken from buyers.

However, April 10th will mark the launch of the Sport Tourer, which follows much of the successful attributes of other Insignia models but offers more practicality to owners.

The vehicle provides motorists with 540 litres of loading space when the rear seats are raised, which helps to create an overall volume space of around 1,530 litres.

Andy Gilson, Vauxhall's marketing director, said: "Buyers in the mid-size estate market are craving more practicality than ever before to cater for families and lifestyle activities.

"But they're not content to compromise on style and running costs, which is why the Insignia Sports Tourer is such an ideal choice in this growing sector."

The Vauxhall Insignia beat off the challenge of the Ford Fiesta by a single point to be given its car of the year accolade from a judging panel of 59 senior motoring journalists.
