Subaru UK recently came up with a very inspiring and interesting idea to promote their new Forester model and its off-road abilities. They drove the car for a ski trip from the south of England to the north of Scotland in just one day using one tank of fuel.
This first-of-its-kind challenge was a pioneering activity in the UK in terms of snowsport-related accomplishments, and gave back factual real-world results on fuel efficiency. Equipped with a Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, the Forester proved its remarkable capabilities, particularly in the harsh snow conditions of the Scottish Highlands, as the compact SUV managed to accomplish the entire 480-mile journey with an impressive 45-mpg fuel consumption.
The trip began at 4:00AM from the Sno!zone premier indoor snow slope centre at Xscape, Milton Keynes in England and went on as the team set forth for the CairnGorm Mountain Ski Resort in Cairngorms, Scotland, which they reached at 2:25PM. Throughout their trip north, the Forester was packed with all the needed ski and snow equipment and comfortably sat at motorway speed limits.
“We had no doubts that the Forester would be the perfect support vehicle for this snowy challenge. It is one of the cleanest and most fuel-efficient SUV’s available, has ample space for passengers and luggage, and its All-Wheel-Drive capability and revised suspension make light work of all road surfaces – from motorways to icy country lanes”, said Subaru of UK’s Public Relations and Marketing Director Kenyon Neads.
The 2010 Subaru Forester mode is equipped with a modified suspension with upgraded dampers and springs, which perform better on twisty roads and motorway driving.
