Suzuki UK has revised the SX4 range by launching a new, high-specification SZ5 4x4 model, which is now on sale wearing a price tag of £14,235. The range now has three 'SZ' grades and two engine options - one petrol and one diesel. All models feature a bold SUV facade with side under protection mouldings, front and rear skid plates, and wheel arch extensions.

The 1.6-litre VVT petrol engine generating 120PS is available in SZ3 and SZ4 2WD (front-wheel drive) specification or a SZ5 4x4 model with automatic/selectable four-wheel drive. In addition, the newest 2.0-litre SZ5 DDiS 4?4 is available as an SZ5, priced at £15,995.

This new diesel engine boasts high horse power of 135PS at 3,500rpm and a muscular torque of 320Nm at 1,500rpm. It is fully compliant with Euro 5 standards, achieving combined fuel consumption cycle of 51.4mpg with 143g/km CO2 emissions. The 2.0-litre SZ5 DDiS 4?4 features various technologies to lessen environmental impact and boost performance, such as a closed coupled diesel particulate filter (DPF) and a water cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system.

The signature highlight of the SX4 4x4 is the i-AWD (intelligent - All-Wheel Drive) switchable three-mode all-wheel drive system. It is an easy-to-operate Electric Control Coupling Device that allows driver to choose 2WD, 4WD-Lock and 4WD-Auto modes to suit motoring conditions. Selecting 2WD optimises fuel economy, 4WD-Auto mode promotes smooth cruising, while 4WD-Lock maintains full traction up to roughly 40mph.

The SX4 is fitted as standard with the SZ3 model offering remote central locking with deadlocks, air conditioning, six airbags, MP3/WMA compatible CD tuner with eight speakers, illuminated steering wheel mounted audio controls, four electric windows and driver information display.

The SZ4 model adds 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, heated door mirrors, side body protection, as well as automatic air conditioning, dashboard centre speaker, and keyless entry and start. Finally, the range topping SZ5 adds i-AWD and rear privacy glass.
