Suzuki outranks competitors in fuel challenge

Suzuki outranks competitors in fuel challenge

04 November 2009

Used Suzuki owners looking for a new model might be encouraged by news of the Alto's success at a recent rally.

Those thinking about offloading their used Suzuki Alto and buying a newer model might be intrigued to hear about its success in a recent fuel test.

Located in Australia, the Global Green Challenge spanned 1,900 miles and, according to the manufacturer, the Alto outranked lots of its competitors.

The winner was the car that completed the journey with the biggest improvement over its official figure.

Averaging 72 miles per gallon, the Suzuki Alto's total was 13 per cent better than the European mean.

However, in city traffic, it achieved the lowest of any other vehicle entered in the race.

The carmaker put this down to a combination of aerodynamic efficiency, lightweight design and a small engine.

It added: "The 1.0-litre petrol engine Alto continued to defy expectations by showing some of the much more expensive diesel cars the true meaning of fuel economy."

Other used Suzukis currently available include the Grand Vitara and the Swift.
