Fourteen years ago, Lotus revolutionised the sportscar market when it introduced the small lightweight agile two-seat mid engine Elise sportscar.
By sticking to their core values of performance Lotus was able to create a vehicle with supercar performance combined with city car economy.
The 2011 model, which will be unveiled during the 80th International Geneva Motorshow, presents several improvements and changes to maintain its leading position in the class.
The new range for 2011 includes Lotus Elise, Lotus Elise R, and Lotus Elise SC.
The range will be available in the salesroom starting April 2010. The body of the 2011 model has evolved from the iconic design of Lotus Elise, retains the style and character, while providing a more planted, meaningful stand and a clear contemporary appearance that relates it to the Lotus Evora.
As to be expected, its design is an exciting combination of functional efficiency and dramatic style. Its body has a newly sculptured front, which includes a new bumper, access panel, and front clam that all blend to provide the car with a wider appearance and more road presence.
The engine, positioned at the cars rear, has been enclosed by a unique twin-spine engine cover. A more aggressive diffuser is also firmly covered by a stylish bumper design that holds the rear licence plate.
The brand new Lotus Elise has various additional improvements and changes, including the installation of an advanced 1.6 litre Valvematic engine that complies to EURO 5 regulations.
