Kia has announced that the order book of the latest three-door variant of Kia Rio is now open with prices starting at £9,995, or £600 cheaper than its five-door counterpart.
The South Korean automaker's B-segment hatchback offers the same trim levels and engine line-up as the existing five-door version, which was launched in September 2011.
The entry level petrol unit for the Rio is the 1.25-litre Kappa engine, which generates 83 bhp, 89 lb ft of torque, 114 g/km of CO2 and a fuel economy of 56.5 mpg, on the combined cycle.
Another petrol unit, the 107 bhp 101 lb ft 1.4-litre Gamma engine produces 51.4 mpg while emitting 128 g/km of CO2.
Diesel power units include the 1.4 CRDi with 89 bhp, 162 lb ft, 105 g/km of CO2 emission, which delivers 70.6 mpg. The 1.1 CRDi engine delivers 74 bhp, 125 lb ft of torque, emissions of 99 g/km and returns 74.3 mpg.
The ultra-frugal EcoDynamics trim is available in diesel powered vehicles. This trim grade features a drag-reducing front grille, low rolling resistance tyres, stop-start, rear spoiler and gearshift indicator.
Rio's three-door model offers four trim levels (1, 1 Air, 2 and 3). The standard size of this model is similar to the one found in the five-door version, which features a width of 1720 mm, height of 1455 mm, length of 4045 mm and a wheelbase of 2570 mm.
The price of the 1.25-litre petrol in '1' trim starts at £9,995, while the 1.4 CRDi EcoDynamics in '3' specification costs £14,295.
