Toyota Land Cruiser more eco-friendly than rivals
08 May 2009
The Toyota Land Cruiser has slashed its CO2 emissions to become more environmentally friendly than its rivals.
New testing has shown that the Toyota Land Cruiser produces fewer CO2 emissions than similar cars made by its rivals. After the model was re-tested by the Vehicle Certification Agency, it was confirmed that it made emissions of 224 grams per kilometre, a reduction of 12 grams from previously.
The cut was made possible by using new low viscosity differential oil.
And the slashed emissions means the Land Cruiser is in a favourable environmental light in comparison with the Land Rover Discovery 3 and Mitsubishi Shogun which produce 270 and 280 grams per kilometre respectively.
The environment is not the only beneficiary though as the Land Cruiser has moved from band L to K for vehicle excise duty, meaning road tax is cut from £405 to £215.
Toyata recently announced that a third-generation model of the Priuis hybrid would be available in summer.
CO2 emissions from the new Prius have been cut 14 per cent to 89 grams per kilometre.
