03 February 2009
Toyota has unveiled two new versions of the Aygo.
Two new versions of Toyota's popular city car Aygo have been unveiled by the Japanese manufacturer.Designed for "comfort and convenience", the Aygo Blue comes equipped with Bluetooth connectivity and air conditioning as standard, while the Aygo Black offers a stylish alternative with 14-inch alloys, Alcantara and leather upholstery.
Both models are powered by Toyota's three-cylinder 1.0-litre VVT-i petrol engine and demonstrate the firm's commitment to reducing carbon dioxide, with emissions from the Aygo down from 109g/km in 2005 to 106g/km.
The Aygo model was launched in 2005 and Toyota has since recorded annual sales of more than 100,000 in Europe each year, with over 44,000 sold to UK drivers.
Formerly named Car of the Year by Top Gear, the Aygo appeals to motorists due to its "low cost of ownership, contemporary styling and fun-to-drive character", according to Toyota.
The manoeuvrability of the Aygo was demonstrated by the Top Gear presenters when they used it to play a game of 'car football' in 2007.
