The 4x4 vehicle that conquered the Arctic snow and ice is to appear on the at the three-day event at the NEC, Birmingham from 26 to 28 March.
TV viewers witnessed how the Toyota Hilux became the first car to reach the Magnetic North Pole. Intrepid drivers now have the opportunity to drive the same vehicle and put their skills to the test on frozen land in new off-roading tours that are being promoted at the Outdoors Show.
Arctic Trucks, the Reykjavik-based specialist company that modified the Toyota Hilux to withstand the severe conditions in the Top Gear challenge, has joined forces with Extreme World Races, organisers of South and North Pole races, at the Outdoors Show, pooling their skills and abilities of being able to cope with extreme weather conditions as well as racing events.
The range of vehicles offered by Arctic Trucks includes two Toyota Hilux Invincible Double Cabswhich have special features to withstand the extreme conditions of the country, such as lava fields, glaciers, tundra and mountains. They feature 38-inch tyres, which allows the cars to move both on thin ice and through deep snow. The trips take 2 to 5 days to complete and if wished longer expeditions Icelandic expeditions can be arranged.
