The new Toyota Toyota Auris HSD (Hybrid Synergy Drive), which is exclusively made for the European market, brings full hybrid technology to a core model at the centre of the companys model line-up. The car marks the opening move for the use of HSD technology throughout the companys full range of models in Europe by the 2020s.
It was made in Britain at the Burnaston factory of Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK. The car aims to make an important change on the customers perception about the full hybrid drive technology.
The UK government welcomed the vision of the Europes first home-manufactured full hybrid model.
Im delighted that Toyota has chosen its UK plants to produce the first European Toyota hybrid car and I look forward to seeing it when Im in Geneva for the Motor Show. Toyotas commitment to reduce CO2 emissions gives fresh impetus to our vision for the UK to lead in the design, manufacture and use of low carbon cars, said Business Minister Ian Lucas.
Aside from the advantages of the Hybrid Synergy Drive like low CO2 emissions and excellent fuel efficiency, the new Auris HSD offers driving comfort, everyday usability and remarkable calmness for a stylish and smooth-driving experience.
The new Auris HSD is available in two levels-the 92g/km and 89g/km-which both provide the greatest fuel efficiency and lowest CO2 emissions in the class. The Hybrid Synergy Drive will perform a crucial part in further decreasing the average CO2 emissions of Toyotas whole-fleet in Europe.
