Audi AG has done it yet again; for the fifth time two of its models were voted ‘All-wheel drive car of the year’. Around 116,336 readers of the German publication ‘AUTO BILD ALLRAD’ voted the all-new Audi A8 and the Audi A4 quattro at the top of their respective class. The ceremony was held in a press conference on the eve of the 2010 AMI Motor Show in Leipzig, Germany.
In its debut, the all-new Audi A8 was honoured with the top place for the ‘All-wheel drive cars over €40,000’ category, while the Audi A4 quattro ended up winning in the ‘All-wheel drive cars from €25,000 to €40,000’ category.
Elsewhere, the success of the German marque was brushed up by minor awards for the compact crossover SUV Audi Q5 in the category ‘Off-road vehicles and SUVs from €25,000 to €40,000’, and for the Audi R8 sports car in the category ‘All-wheel drive coupés and sports cars’. Once again these new awards have proven Audi AG as among the most successful car manufacturers in the reader poll.
“In 2010 we are celebrating 30 years of quattro. The ‘Ur-quattro’ was the start of a success story which continues right up to the present day”, said AUDI AG Germany Head of Sales Michael-Julius Renz.
“We are therefore particularly pleased that the readers of AUTO BILD ALLRAD have once again voted our cars the best all-wheel drive cars in their class”, Renz expressed his thanks to the readers while accepting the award.
