Used Volkswagen drivers may agree with new Polo accolade
1 December 2009The news that the Polo has been named Car of the Year 2010 may please some used Volkswagen drivers.
As one of the most sought-after accolades in European motoring, the prize demonstrates the fact that the auto stands for superior cutting edge technology, the manufacturer claimed.
Established in order to acknowledge the best new car introductions, the prize has been given since 1964.
This year, it overtook the Toyota iQ in the race for the title, with 347 points awarded by 59 judges in 23 different countries.
Hakan Matson, president of the jury, said the Polo impressed with its safety equipment, range of engines and energy efficiency in the case of the Polo BlueMotion.
"The new Polo stands for German engineering craftsmanship and superior cutting edge technology," commented professor Martin Winterkorn, chair of the board of management for the Volkswagen Group.
In other Volkswagen news, two unique versions of the new California campervan and Caravelle are up for sale in Lancashire, which feature vibrant colours and graphics.
