Used Volvo drivers may be impressed with V70 plug-in

Used Volvo drivers may be impressed with V70 plug-in 30 October 2009
The new V70 plug-in hybrid may impress new and used Volvo drivers.

According to a review in the Telegraph, the electric-powered motor could be suitable for urban commutes.

Its electric motor provides 70 bhp and 162 lb/ft of torque.

Meanwhile, it can reach a top speed of 80 mph, although the diesel version of the car makes it to 135 mph.

In terms of acceleration, the auto takes 15 seconds to get from zero to 60 mph, compared to the diesel's 8.9-second speed.

However, it has a fuel economy of 148.8 mpg and has a CO2 emissions rating of 50 g/km.

Summarising, the news provider stated: "A simple system that provides the V70 estate with zero-emissions capability and surprising practicality.

"Good to drive as well, although needs work to reduce weight."

It also noted the battery's charge can be used up quickly, with an electric-only range of 31 miles.

When taken to top speeds and up hills, however, this was found to be reduced to just over 17 miles.

In other green car news, Volkswagen recently claimed that its DRIVe XC60 is so fuel efficient that it significantly cuts the cost for large company fleets.
