Used Volvo owners may agree new S80 engine is a cracker
14 August 2009Used Volvo drivers may welcome the fact the revised engine on the S80 has been described as "a cracker".
Writing for the magazine Car, Ben Barry described the unit's stats as "impressive".
The model now comes with a 2.4-litre, five-cylinder, twin turbo engine, which provides the front wheels with 202 bhp and 310 lb ft torque.
Mr Barry pointed out, even with this level of power, drivers should find the model is capable of 45.6 mpg and releases "a respectable" 164 g/km of CO2.
He also claimed the auto offers good acceleration.
"Chances are the Volvo S80 won't be on your exec saloon wish-list but, with a light re-style, sharper chassis and punchier engine, the Swedes have transformed it into a proper contender," Mr Barry stated.
In other news, Volvo recently received an award in recognition of the contribution it has made to road safety by inventing the three-point seatbelt.
