Used Bentley just needs tyres and battery
11 December 2009
A vintage, used Bentley was restored to its former glory with just a few minor repairs.
Most people who owned a vintage 1949 Bentley would not keep it dirty and hidden in an underground car park for years. But that is exactly what happened to one blue and grey Bentley Mark VI before it was discovered by car enthusiast Doug Saunders.
The Ontario resident was visiting a friend's condo when he saw the sorry sight and had a closer look.
He subsequently tracked down the owner and a deal was struck, making the used Bentley his.
But if Mr Saunders had expected a mammoth task making it roadworthy, he was pleasantly surprised.
He told the Globe and Mail that restorations had been carried out on it by the previous owner, and all it needed was new tyres, a new battery and a horn repair.
Another used Bentley recently more than doubled its estimated price when it was sold at an auction.
The car had been expected by Bonhams to go for £40,000 to £50,000 but ended up netting £109,200.
