Used cars should be checked at proper garages
03 November 2009
New and used cars should only be serviced at garages that subscribe to Motor Codes' rules and regulations, an organisation has recommended.
Those with a new or used car should only take it to a garage that has subscribed to Motor Codes' guide to good practice, according to the organisation. It said in order to avoid visiting a "dodgy" establishment, drivers should look for notification that the company working on the car has signed up to the Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair.
This could help sort reputable branches from the wealth of franchises, independent and specialist centres there are in the country.
"Motor Codes has consumer interests at heart," the firm explained. "It aims to improve the overall performance of garages across the industry by setting out standards that the service and repair trade should adhere to."
Of course, one aspect of car maintenance is buying the most suitable insurance policy.
This purchase - as well as being a legal requirement - could be extremely useful should any damage occur on November 5th, when lots of fireworks and activity happens.
