Used Mazda models could help drivers go green
22 September 2009
A new report has shown Mazda is one of the leading manufacturers in terms of reducing the average CO2 emissions of its cars.
Motorists looking for eco-friendly used cars may be inspired to check out some Mazda models, after hearing about the findings of a recent report.A study by the European Federation for Transport and Environment revealed the manufacturer came second out of 14 mainstream vehicle producers in terms of improving its green credentials last year.
The group's models average CO2 emission fell some 8.2 per cent over the course of 2008 - second only to BMW, which managed a reduction of 10.2 per cent.
In comparison, the typical cut achieved by all of the manufacturers analysed was 3.3 per cent.
Mazda announced it intends to reduce its CO2 emissions a further 23 per cent by 2015.
It explained it was hoping to achieve this through various technological advances - such as lightweight vehicle parts.
Meanwhile, motorists who opt for low-emission used cars may find they benefit financially because greener autos qualify for cheaper road tax.
