A used Mondeo has sold for an "exceptional" price.
A used Mondeo is regarded as having performed exceptionally, it has emerged.The silver 2004 04 Ford Mondeo TDCI 115 LX Estate has a mileage of 532,491 miles, which has gained it much attention in recent months.
At the British Car Auctions (BCA) London event, the half million-mile motor sold for £825 following some "fierce" bidding, according to the organisers.
The mileage on the car was the equivalent to a trip to the moon and back, and based on estimates that a 200,000-mile auto would make £1,225, it is thought the car made "exceptional money".
BCA UK operations director Simon Henstock said: "The performance by this Mondeo Estate model must be seen as exceptional - and certainly not the norm."
He added the vehicle outperformed all expectations and said the nature of the auction at the event ensured that it went for a high price.
Meanwhile, fans of used Fords may be pleased to hear that a range of new models may be on the market soon.
The manufacturer announced the launch of six new variations of the Ford Fiesta, including the Studio, Edge and ECOnetic versions.
