Used Renault drivers could pick up award-winning car

The Renault Scenic has received a golden award.

Used Renault drivers may look forward to having the chance to get their hands on an award-winning model when it hits the second-hand market.

The Renault Scenic was recently honoured with the 2009 Golden Steering Wheel Award in the MPV category.

Decided by readers of Auto Bild, among other European motoring publications, the prize was given to the Scenic after it received 30.6 per cent of the votes.

Patrick Pelata, chief operating officer of Renault, commented: "It is a great pleasure to receive this prize.

"Auto Bild readers are very demanding drivers, so this award is a precious testimony of the qualities of our New Scenic, which it is currently the most-sold MPV in Europe."

Some 46 autos in six categories were considered in the competition and readers assessed the vehicles on a range of criteria, including styling, design, comfort, safety, environmental performance, quality and road holding.

Meanwhile, the Vauxhall Astra was given the equivalent award in the compact class.
