Used Renault drivers have a Top Gear favourite
03 December 2009
Used car buyers might consider purchasing one of Renaultsport's vehicles because the Renault subsidiary was recently named Manufacturer of the year by Top Gear magazine.
Motorists in the market for a used car might consider purchasing a Renault in light of the praise the brand has received from Top Gear magazine. Its subsidiary Renaultsport, which released the Twingo Renaultsport 133 Cup in 2009, was named Manufacturer of the Year by the publication.
The publication claimed that the new models of the Clio, Twingo and Megane released this year were "their best ever".
Conor McNicholas, editor of Top Gear magazine, commented: "Renaultsport has been impressing us for years but 2009 was the year where the whole project hit a new sweet spot."
However, for those looking for a used car, there is plenty in Renaultsport's earlier ranges that is likely to impress, such as last year's Megane R26R, which Car Magazine gave four stars out of five.
According to the motoring publication, the Renaultsport created the "ultimate track-day hatch" by stripping away any surplus weight and adding a carbon-fibre chassis.
