Used Skodas lose less in depreciation
28 January 2010
People selling used Skodas will see less depreciation, according to new figures.
A motoring advice site has compared various second-hand cars to see what they are worth when re-sold.Used Car Expert found that used Skoda Fabias lose less value than others.
A 2009 1.9 Tdi car that had 5,600 average miles on it would be worth about £10,100 but could sell in two years for £7,600 with 29,000 miles.
This shows depreciation of £2,500, less than figures for the Audi A3 and the Volkswagen Golf, though they had different prices and average miles statistics.
Matt Tumbridge, editor of Used Car Expert, noted, however, that Audi and Volkswagens have a better quality of finish.
He commented: "Buyers of Skoda and Seat cars are quids in."
The car advice publication recently noted that more insurance disputes were happening during the recent heavy snowfall.
Accidents were being caused by the bad conditions and lower visibility.
It was not uncommon for cars to be written off while parked because another driver collided with them.
