With over 55,000 cars sold over the last 18 months, Vauxhall's Insignia was proven to be a success on the UK market. Currently, the car manufacturer is proud to announce the release of the Insignia CDTi 4x4 that will hit dealerships in September. The model combines the 2.0-litre 160PS CDTi diesel engine with the Insignia's Adaptive 4x4 system.
The Adaptive 4x4 system, which is a combination of hydraulic and mechanical all-wheel drive systems, is aimed to provide optimal traction in different driving conditions.
Using the system means that wheels do not need to be spining for corrective measure takes effect, enabling traction on mud or sand even if only one wheel at the rear can find grip. If the system detects the car travelling on a highway, it automatically reverts to front-wheel drive to save fuel and reduce friction loss.
The Insignia Sports Tourer 4x4 features Automatic Self Levelling Rear Suspension, the FlexOrganizer cargo management system and a power tailgate with programmable opening height. Its luggage compartment can accommodate 540 to 1,530 litres.
Vauxhall is offering two new trims as well. The Indian Summer interior gives premium, Nappa leather in a warm shade, which is complemented by Cashmere stitching. The second trim level has a VXR-style sport leather gearshift gaiter and gearshift gaiter steering wheel with 19" five-spoke alloys.
The 2.0 CDTi engine within the Sports Tourer 4x4 produces 160 PS at 4,000 RPM, with maximum torque at 350 Nm - up to 380 Nm with overboost. The car can accelerate to 60 mph in just 9.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 130 mph, while using a combined fuel consumption of just 4.99 l/100km (47.1 mpg).
