Volkswagen is pleased to announce the addition of a new variant to its Golf range for the British market. Using the well-known Match name, the latest model supersedes the SE trim level, adding extra equipment worth over £1,600, while bringing a £300 price premium over the outgoing version. The new 140 PS BlueMotion Technology model is also available in the Match line-up for added performance and economy.
While the standard specification list of the SE model includes, among others, ESP, ABS, seven airbags, cruise control, multi-device interface for connectivity to MP3 player or iPod, Climatic air conditioning, and alarm, the new Golf Match adds a DAB digital radio receiver, front and rear parking sensors, Bluetooth system, an RCD 510 touch-screen stereo with six-disc CD auto-changer, a leather multifunction steering wheel, and unique 16" 'Croft' alloy wheels.
The new variant comes with muscular engine choices just like the outgoing SE model. This means buyers can choose between a122PS 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine, a 105PS 1.6-litre TDI engine and a 140PS 2.0-litre TDI unit. Both the TSI and the 1.6-litre TDI engines are offered with seven-speed DSG transmission, while the 2.0 litre TDI unit can be ordered with the six-speed DSG transmission.
The efficient BlueMotion Technology Match variant is available with a 105PS 1.6-litre TDI engine returning a combined cycle of 68.9mpg and CO2 emission of 107g/km. New for the Match range is a BlueMotion Technology model combined with the renowned 140PS 2.0-litre TDI engine. This gives owners a 65.7mpg combined fuel economy and just 114g/km CO2 emissions. As such, it is likely to grab the attention of fleet customers and environmentally conscious buyers who do not want to compromise on a car's performance. The enhanced economy of BlueMotion Technology models come as a result of battery regeneration and a Start/Stop system.
The new Golf Match costs starting at £17,730 RRP OTR for the three-door model equipped with a 1.4-litre TSI engine. First deliveries will begin at the end of June.
