Volkswagen Polo celebrates milestone

Volkswagen has produced its 11,111,111th Polo at a plant in India.
Used Volkswagen drivers are plentiful across the world and those who own a Polo will feel like a small part of history as the vehicle marks a special milestone.This week the German car manufacturer announced that it has produced its 11,111,111th Polo.
Several officials from Volkswagen joined Prof Dr Horst Kohler, president of the Federal Republic of Germany, in India to celebrate the milestone.
The officials visited the Volkswagen plant in Pune in India to see how the 2010 Car of the Year is produced.
Volkswagen board member Dr Jochem Heizmann said the manufacturer wants to bring the Polo's European success story to India.
He added: "Volkswagen will tap its opportunities in India with vehicles like the Polo, our modern plant in Pune and a highly-motivated workforce."
The Top Gear website notes the popularity of buying a used Polo, particularly as its fuel, tyre and insurance costs are not expensive and it enjoys low depreciation.
