Vollkswagen Volkswagen launched its new Sharan during the Geneva motor show. The car features a pair of sliding doors and was made based on a highly-developed new platform. The new Sharan is expected to adhere to the new standards of practicality, refinement and efficiency in its category.
Compared to its predecessor, the new Volkswagen Sharan is much longer, lower and wider. Despite these advantages, the car is 30 kilograms lighter compared to the previous model.
The new Sharan is fitted with four advanced TSI petrol and TDI diesel engines connected to the DSG gearboxes or six-speed manual. Its 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine, which develops 150 PS with a return of 38.1 mpg and 172 g/km of CO2 emissions, is coupled with a 2.0-litre unit and a standard DSG gearbox. It generates 200 PS with a return of 32.8 mpg and 201 g/km CO2 emissions.
The diesel range includes two 2.0-litre common rail engines that generate 170 PS and 140 PS. The 170 PS model has a return of 49.5 mpg with CO2 emissions of 152 g/km. The 140 PS model returns 52.3 mpg with 143 g/km CO2 emissions, making the new Sharan one of the most efficient car in the class. Except the 200 PS version, all the models feature standard Stop-Start and regenerative braking systems that further enhance efficiency.
For the first time, the Adaptive Chassis Control (ACC) system is now available in the new Sharan as an option. The system features electronically operated pneumatic dampers with three selectable stages: sport, comfort and normal. Moreover, the Volkswagen Volkswagen Sharan comes with a new version of the Park Assist system.
